The following video is of the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli. It was shown to guests at GESAC’s Meet the Authors event in September.
President Sassoli could, unfortunately, not attend the event, however, within this video message, he did cover some fundamental points about the importance of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs).
Support the European Parliament’s proposed budget for Creative Europe – that’s the message from GESAC and the 90 other organisations who signed a joint letter to EU leaders.
The letter, which you can read in full here, urges the European Council President and Member State Representatives to support the European Parliament’s proposed budget for the Creative Europe Programme 2021-2027.
There are many positives to take out of the newly released CISAC Global Collections Report 2019, especially for European creators. Global royalty collections for creative works have continued to rise steadily, with Europe leading the way at 56.4% of the total. And the continent also tops the share of music collections by a similarly impressive figure.
