French authors’ society and GESAC member Sacem signed an unprecedented transatlantic deal last week with Canadian authors’ society SOCAN. With this agreement, Sacem is now mandated to represent SOCAN’s more than 135,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers for administering and collecting towards multi-territorial digital service providers (DSPs) in Europe.
MEPs advocate for copyright liability of online platforms in order to remove distortions in the digital market and to provide better conditions for creators and consumers.
